In Remembrance
Being bullied is a soul destroying beast that pushes us to the very limits of our endurance. For most of us, we simply hover on the edge of that endurance, desperate for the pain to end but latching on to any shred of hope that things will get better. For others, the experience is simply too much to cope with and they reach a point where they cannot take any more.
As a victim of bullying myself, I feel an affinity with these young men. My face could easily have been part of this growing library of faces - The faces of bullycide. I understand their pain, their helplessness and their desperation. I wish with all my heart that none of them ever had to suffer such torment.
I mourn for these victims as if I knew them. I look at their faces and read their stores and my heart breaks. Their lives should never be forgotten and their deaths should not be in vain. These young men from every corner of the world, each sharing the same life experiences and ultimate fate represent everything that needs to change in order to protect other LGBT teens from becoming yet another suicide statistic.
This is by no means a comprehensive list of bullied young men who ultimately took their own lives to escape their pain. To document every such case would be impossible for one person to accomplish without assistance. What I present here is a selection of the most well documented cases. Some entries are more detailed than others, depending on available sources.
